Spiced Turmeric Latte (Haldi Dood)

A slightly spicy subtly sweet drink that doubles as a cold busting remedy. A flavourful twist on the standard turmeric milk my mom used to feed me when I got sick as a child. Keep this one handy for cold and flu season.

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy of choice - I like almond milk or oat milk)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground cardamom (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ginger powder
  • pinch black pepper
  • pinch salt
  • pinch nutmeg
  • pinch saffron (optional)
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or honey (optional)


  • Mix all the ingredients, except the maple syrup or honey in a small saucepan and heat over low heat till it just comes to a boil, stirring occasionally. Totally optional, but if you want to get a nice foam on top, use a high powered blender, or milk frother to get a nice foam before serving. 
  • Serve warm, with a drizzle of maple syrup or honey and a light sprinkle of cinnamon over top.
