Current Natura Market Favs and a Two-Ingredient Sugar Free Treat

A while back I shared some of my favourite items to order from Natura Market for my Whole30. But even in life after Whole30, I’ve been trying out a bunch of other paleo and whole30 items from Natura Market to find new favourites that can replace some old not-so-good for me favs.

Here is a list of some of my current favourites that I’ve been ordering on repeat:

  1. Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips

I’m a chip girl. Love munching on something cruchy when I watch tv. These are a great option. I’ve tried the nacho and sea salt flavour. Both were amazing! And honestly I could not tell there was no gluten or corn in them! The nacho flavour doesn’t even have cheese in it and it still tastes so good! I start craving the flavour of these chips! I am definitely going to keep ordering these for those late night tv watching munchies.

They are a bit pricey for chips though, so it just means they really are a ‘sometimes treat’ food and not an everyday occurrence for me.

2. Nut Pods – Original

This has totally replaced milk or cream in our coffee even after Whole30.

Before this, I was a fan of evaporated milk in my tea, or cream in my coffee. I like a bit of a creamy flavour in my hot drinks. This is not as creamy as that, but it scratches that itch. I’ve tried other brands of non-dairy creamer, but this is the one that I keep coming back to. It is totally sugar free and doesn’t have a funny chemically aftertaste that I have noticed in some other brands.

I only like the original flavour. Personally, I didn’t love the hazelnut, caramel or vanilla flavours they have.

They also now have a larger 940ml (1 QT) containers, which makes me so happy! I used to buy multiples of the smaller 330ml size just to have enough on hand, but now I can buy a bigger one to last me a couple of weeks! Yay!

3. Simple Mills Rosemary Sea Salt Crackers

Another one that I cannot believe doesn’t have gluten. A great ‘alternative’ cracker for when I have a hankering for some cheese and crackers but still want to be good.

4. Cauliflower Pizza Crust

Ok, so of course I prefer the taste of real pizza with real gluten-filled crust. Nothing beats real pizza. Especially if it is New York style thin crust! Yum!

But I do keep this on hand in the freezer for days when I want to be good, but still want to have pizza. It is actually surprisingly delicious. Even J doesn’t complain when I use this crust.

I keep a pack in my freezer for ‘pizza emergencies’. When we feel like pizza, I just pop the frozen crusts in the oven for 10 mins to heat up. Then top it with whatever toppings we feel like, (normally it’s just some crushed tomatoes – or pesto, peppers, garlic, some form of protein, fresh basil and some cheese) and then broil it in the oven till the cheese melts and it turns a nice golden brown on top. It holds up really well when cooked, and tastes great.

The crust does have some cheese in it. Which is fine by me. And lets be real, cheese is what makes the pizza right?

This cauliflower crust holds up really well when cooked and is great for ‘pizza emergencies’ when you want to have pizza, but still want to be good. Try it with a few dollops of ricotta cheese on top. Yum!

I just wish there were more than 2 crusts in the package. One package is just enough for both of us, if we have a side like a salad to go with it. But we won’t have leftovers for the next day. So for the price, it is a bit of a splurge.

5. Artisana Coconut Butter

This coconut butter gave me life during the deep dark sugar craving days of Whole30.

Coconut butter is basically the coconut version of peanut or almond butter. It has a very mildly coconut flavour, but also a subtle sweetness that helps satisfy my sweet cravings when I’m trying to stay away from the not so good sugary treats.

Side note: One good thing I found about cutting back on sugar is that you start to become more sensitive to sweet flavours in general. So even a small amount of something sweet can start to feel like enough. Honestly, now normal ‘sugary’ treats like candy or chocolate bars start to make me sick if I have more than a couple of bites. I can’t even finish a whole kids ice cream cone, without feeling overwhelmed by the sweetness. Normally, I’ll just let J buy the ice cream and take 2-3 bites and I am done (which he is not too mad about either). His sugar tolerance is much higher than mine. But even he has noticed a reduction in his sugar cravings overall.

Anyways back to this coconut butter, often when I have a sugar craving I just eat a spoonful of this stuff. It is basically coconut flesh blended up till it becomes a creamy butter like consistency. I find this brand has a sweeter flavour than others I’ve tried.

It makes a great spread for toast or crackers. But we especially like to turn it into this sugar free dessert:

Take equal quantities of melted coconut butter and almond butter, mix together then spread it out in a thin layer in a pan lined with some parchment paper, and freeze. Once it has firmed up, peel off the parchment and cut it up into chunks – like bark. A fantastic sugar free snack that is such a treat without any of the guilt!
